Easy Vegan Apple Crisp
I have gathered many good apples, and my wife and I have made many good apple crisps. And as we’ve make them, I’ve been like a trained scientist, carefully tracking and recording delicious data. The conclusion of our experiments is this fine recipe:
1½ cups whole wheat flour
1½ cups oats
1½ cups sugar, white or brown
¾ cup oil
7 cups chopped apples (if you’re going shopping for them, buy a tart apple like Granny Smith)
1 teaspoon cinnamon, if you have it
For the crumble, mix the flour, the oats, half of the sugar, and half of the cinnamon in a bowl. Add the oil and mix again. Then peel and chop 7 cups worth of apples, and mix them with the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Grease an 8” by 8” baking dish, put down half of the crumble, then put the apple mixture on top of that, and then put the remaining half of the crumble. Pat it down flat to avoid peaks that will burn. Cook for 45 to 50 minutes at 350° F. Enjoy!
